I am the type of person, who, when hungry or thirsty, grabs what looks good or refreshing, without a concern about the health risks. I've been laid low with malaria, but never, to my knowledge, with food poisoning. Now I've had the occasional upset stomach, of course. But I've not been laid low screaming "god, Satan, whoever, take me now!", from a cookie, as I have been from the bite of a mosquito.
Today I read: "Girl Scout cookies Lemon Chalet are safe to eat, but not up to quality standards. Little Brownie Bakers, the maker of Girl Scout Cookies, announced a recall of some of its cookies Thursday. The company said Lemon Chalet Crème cookies, while still safe for consumption, are not up to its quality standards. Approximately 10 consumers have informed the cookie maker of an off taste and smell in certain packages of Lemon Chalet Crème cookies, which it said is a result of oils that may be breaking down.
Food poisoning can be serious. Depending on the contaminant, fever and chills, bloody stools, dehydration, and nervous system damage may follow. These symptoms may affect one person or a group of people who ate the same thing (called an outbreak).
Over the years I have been a major consumer of Girl Scout Cookies. I am watching my health, waist this year. However, I have still downed two boxes of Thin Mints.
If I were a national leader of the Girl Scouts, I'd be on the phone negotiating a major donation from Little Brownie Bakers. One large enough to bankroll a lot of summer camps and activities for troops low on resources.

Blogs are ranked in various ways, and one of the more significant ones (besides linking or subscribing) happens via Technorati. In brief, Technorati tracks millions of blogs and lets users search them, tag them, and rank them. If you own a blog, or if you read them, I recommend signing up with Technorati (it's free and takes a couple minutes). And if you enjoy this blog, I encourage you, please, to "favorite" it.
